You're going to live
There was an accident on the highway, four cars two mac trucks, left much waste in the center of the madness. Several ambulances , fire trucks and police officers bound corners to arrive. Smoke, gas and oil lined the streets with sounds of desperation clinging to its very thread. In the distance, as so many stories go, behind the constant grinding metal on metal, behind the sloshing of liquids, behind the sirens are screams. Gutteral. Maddening. Silencing. Deafening.
In the circle of death and life comes the comfort of knowing. Knowing this may be the day you move on or move out. Within that knowledge spews forth a peace. Sobering. Surrendering. Powerful. Some say, your life flashes right in front of you counting all your mistakes, all your triumphs, all your best and worst moments. Some say, you deal your cards one last time. And some say, you have a choice. "Choose wisely" an old philosophical person set in their ways with much to much time on their hands have said, they were right. Choose wisely indeed.
That white noise ringing in the ears of victimless crimes. That second thought tightening the belt which now holds twisted bodies. That moment when you feel this may be the singularly place for a lesson gone unnoticed but the zoo notices and the zoo chews slowly. Meanwhile, the villagers get their fill of carnage standing by idling, rather oscillating, left or right shoe to charge the drawbridge and overcome their own fears to help a stranger; not to mention it would behoove them to actually do them some good if they lifted finger one to assist their community leaving dismal drifting to those driving by in wonder. But the zoo watches and the zoo only notes. The light shines one more time upon you giving you the go ahead, move forward, rise up and be somebody. That voice in your head is now outside coaching you. The body responds in pain reminding you that life sometimes is. Smoke hangs heavy in the air and lungs challenging you to breath real and true breath looking death deep in its face....not today my friend. I'm going to live.
